The Serious One

The Serious One: A site for Introverts

About Me

Hi everyone, this is JW, also known here as the "theseriousone".  I decided to make this site because I want introverts to have a place where they can gain understanding into themselves and also share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, questions, and concerns with others.  I named this site The Serious One because introverts know that many introverts are labeled as being too serious.

Are you an introvert?

Do you become drained after to much socializing?

Do you need alone time in order to regain your energy?

Do you feel misunderstood by friends and family?  Do they often say that you are too serious or too quiet?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you might just be an introvert?

The difference between introverts and extroverts.

There are more extroverts than introverts in the world.  The main difference between introverts and extroverts is how they get their energy.

Introverts are energized by and regain their energy by spending time alone.  They are stimulated by the internal world of their thoughts and ideas.  Many introverts enjoy spending a lot of time alone and don't necessarily desire the company of others while other introverts may thoroughly enjoy socializing but still need alone time in order to regain their energy. Many introverts do not like small talk or casual chit chat but enjoy one on one in depth conversations.  Many introverts do not like being the center of attention.

Extroverts are energized when they are around other people.  They tend to seek out the company of others.  They usually enjoy small talk, being a part of the crowd, and even being the center of attention. Extroverts tend to dominate in social activities.  Whether people realize it or not, they tend to see extroversion as the right way because of the behaviors associated with extroversion such as being outgoing, talkative, gregarious, and assertive.

There is nothing wrong with introverts

Many introverts often feel as though there is something wrong with them.  They realize early on that they are different from other people even if they don't know exactly what the difference is.  They are often misunderstood by their parents, friends, fellow students, and coworkers.  Sometimes introverts are labeled as snobby, arrogant, and stand offish simply because they might not talk a lot.  When introverts realize that there is a reason for why they think and act they way they do, they often feel a sense of relief.
